ECC Leadership

The Leadership Team are appointed to serve the Church in accordance with our Church Constitution.

As Pastor, Peter is the only paid employee of the Church, the remainder of our team are all highly enthusiastic and committed volunteers who serve in addition to their 'day' jobs!

Peter Fowler. Pastor

Peter was called by ECC to be their part time pastor at the beginning of 2018. From the beginning of 2019, he has been the Full Time Pastor at ECC

Peter was born in Plymouth and has lived in Devon all his life. He is married to Chela, a physiotherapist and they have three daughters. He came to Christ through going to a summer camp at the age of eleven and continues his involvement with camps as chair of trustees for the Menadue Camps in North Cornwall.

For around fifteen years Peter was involved in business, both in the soft drinks industry and property development. In 2010 he started undertaking a course of studies at Spurgeon’s College London and in 2013 was called by St Thomas Baptist Church to be their associate minister.

Harri Sharp. Secretary

Harri lives and works in Exwick. She has worshipped at ECC since moving to Exeter in 1997. Harri has a passion for children; at ECC she is part of the Sunday morning children's work team and during the week manages The Exwick Ark Nursery and Out of School clubs with her friend Paula.

Harri is a Director on the board of South West Youth Ministries.

Harri is married to Trevor and they have 3 teenagers. They keep chickens, a guinea-pig called Bolt and a goldfish.

John Watts. Treasurer

John was born in Leicester and moved to Exeter in 1976. He started work in 1963 on the railways as a Station Master’s clerk and in 1966 went to work with Thomas Cook as a travel agent.

Eventually specialising in Business Travel he switched to computer programming at the end of the millennium and became self employed doing computer repairs in 2002. He married Denise in 1980.

Growing up in the Church of England, he became a Salvationist after he met Denise who worshipped at the Salvation Army in Exeter.

John and Denise started a church plant for the Salvation Army in Exwick Parish Hall but ended it when St Thomas Baptist Church started their own church plant in 1994. John served in various leadership rolls, leaving in 1996 when he joined Exwick Christian Fellowship. He has a passion for preaching salvation. John retired in 2017.

Michael Emerton

Michael has been at ECC since moving to Exeter to study at the university in 2001.

He is part of the Catering and Celebration Team for Messy Church and also leads services and preaches from time to time.

Michael and his wife, Sarah, have a young daughter who loves smiling at people and enjoys looking at books!

Michael enjoys cycling, photography and anything to do with technology.

He works at a local Primary School where he is the IT Technician and a Computing Teacher.

Sandy Salisbury

Sandy has been at ECC since its beginning in 1993.  She originally comes from California but has been living in Exeter since 1987 and considers the people at ECC to be her spiritual family.  

She co-ordinates our Syrian Refugee appeal and assists Harri with church administration.  She plays guitar and is part of the preaching team. 

She and her husband, Graeme, who heads up the worship team, have two adult sons. 

Sandy teaches English to foreign students and is the author of "Steps Toward Generosity" a series of 31 daily meditations exploring the theme of practical generosity.

Maggie Goodwin

Maggie came to ECC from a Evangelical Anglican Church in 2008. She works supporting adults in the community who have learning difficulties and mental health issues.
She has been a Christian since she was 14, and has been serving on the Leadership Team since 2017.
She has been married to Colin for about 5 years. Colin has 2 grandchildren, who are coming up to school age.
On the Leadership Team, Maggie is very involved in the organisation and running of our Lifegroups, and getting everyone involved, in some way, in caring for each other, as well as studying the Bible together, and Prayer.
She likes meeting people for coffee, walking along the river, and gardening. She hates hills, (going up them) but lives on the top of Barley Mount!

Hilary Webber

Hilary is married to Jimmy and they have four grown-up children and five grandchildren. 

She has been worshipping at ECC since 1996, and holds the church record for having the shortest commute!  Hilary keeps the church running by doing all the important jobs in the background, and also helps maintain links with St. Andrews, the parish church next door. 

Jimmy is part of the setting-up team.

Marie Langdon

Marie is from Exeter and joined Exwick Community Church in 1993 at the age of 15.

She has been involved in children's and youth work since then, and loves working with young people in small groups and through 1 to 1 mentoring work. 

Marie works at the RD&E where she heads up the Cash Management Team. 

In her spare time Marie loves to cook, sew and research family history.  Marie has been married to Nick since 2005 and, although she has no children of her own, frequently borrows her nieces.

On the Leadership Team, Marie is involved with the young people's leadership and with supporting the financial administration of the Fellowship
